The Lorax is coming!!!

The Lorax is a fluffy character from one of our Dr. Seuss books on pollution and the effects it has on our surroundings.  The whole Lorax family is visiting G1 the next few weeks and one of them will be coming to check out how you reduce re-use and recycle at home.

The Lorax will bring a journal with him.  He is coming to “see” how you reduce, re-use and recycle in your home.  Please help your child fill in the information on this page.  This exercise focuses on the content, not the writing itself so feel free help your child spell words or, if your child has difficulty writing, write it for them.

The children can also write in the journal what the Lorax is doing the 2-3 days he’s at your house.  Your child will have to write this from the viewpoint of the Lorax so please assist them with this task.

You can also take photos of the Lorax’s adventures at your house and stick them in the journal.  Should you not have access to a computer, please mail the photos (max 2!) to your classroom teacher and they will make sure they are posted in the Lorax journal.

We have a timetable to ensure that the Lorax visits everyone these next few weeks.  We therefore ask you to PLEASE return the Lorax and his journal to school on the correct day so all the students get an equal amount of time.

Thanks!

Its a beautiful idea. It was a great learning experience for all of us at home, with all of us becoming more aware of how we can reduce, recycle and reuse. Hope Lorax has a nice time and the kids learn from all his adventures.
    Excellent Effort!!! Grade One team.
