Grade 1 Assembly

09/23/2010

The Grade 1 Assembly was the first grade to present an assembly this year and it was quite a success with great music, audience participation and was a thorough reflection on the various things we are doing in Grade 1 at this point in the year.

Miss Sally’s class opened the assembly with each student reading a line of a poem expressing the various activities we do. Miss Ellen’s class then presented examples of these activities including a book talk from their author study, an audience-participation round of the math game ‘Top It’ and sharing learning from parent presentations of different celebrations from our Unit of Inquiry.

All Grade 1 classes finished off the assembly with a dance to the World Cup song ‘Wavin’ Flag’. Please take a moment to watch our performance.

Celebrations Around The World

09/16/2010

In Grade 1 we have been learning about various celebrations from around the world. We have been very lucky as many of our parents volunteered to come in and teach us about certain festivities their families celebrate.

Learning about Eid!

We have had so much fun making traditional crafts and tasting the delicious food which accompanies each celebration. We want to thank our parents for all the effort they have put in to making our Celebrations Unit so interesting and exciting!
